The wire services are crowing over the 3.3/gal. fall in national gasoline prices last week. What they're not pointing out so much is that gasoline has been over $2/gal. for four weeks now, tying the record set back in May and early June.

Over the four weeks ending May 17-June 7, regular averaged $2.042/gal. Over the most recent four weeks the average price is $2.026/gal. In my neck of the woods, regular dipped down to $1.979/gal. over the weekend but is now back up to $1.999/gal. Another week over $2 and we'll make history. Yipee!
