I have always despised Thomas Friedman's ridiculous computer metaphors for whatever he happens to be talking about at any particular moment. You know what I mean; gems like "We must fight the ground war to get bin Laden and his hardware. But Arabs and Muslims must fight the war of ideas to uproot his software."; "That was Globalization 1.0 . . . Now we've entered Globalization 3.0."; and "Islam is God 3.0, Christianity is God 2.0, and Judaism is God 1.0."

It's all part of his obnoxious third way Megatrends techophilia combined with an audacity to redefine history as profoundly idiosyncratically as the Jacobins' "Year I". Now his inane writing style has spread to David Ignatius at the Washington Post and his "Report From Iraq 2.0".

Please, stop the madness!
