What in the world are we supposed to make of this? Today at an International Union of Operating Engineers' Labor Day picnic in Ohio, George W. addressed the jobs depression he is currently residing (presiding suggests too much actual activity) over by saying
I'm interested in solving problems quickly. I want more people working.
Quickly?? You've got to be kidding. It has been thirty months since the jobs depression began and this economy hasn't even bottomed out yet. His dad's jobs recession bottomed out at 23 months; Reagan's at just 16 months.

Cleary the President is using the word "quickly" in a manner with which English speakers are not familiar.
