Andreas Oppenheimer laments how both the White House and the Congress are doing their best to completely ignore Latin America in every way humanly possible. Considering the hopeful left turns in Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, and Argentina as well as the opportunism of Bush's cadre of Batistianos in the administration (Otto Reich being at the top of the list) vis-a-vis the coup attempt against Hugo Chavez in April 2002, is this really a bad thing? So far its "benign neglect," says the General.
